Obituary

Willie Frank Stokes peacefully entered the gates of Heaven on October 25, 2026, leaving behind a profound legacy of love, family, and boundless kindness. Willie was born in Jacksonville, Florida on December 20, 1953, to his loving parents, William and Mary Stokes.

Willie was a devoted and loving husband, sharing 50 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Sharon Robinson-Stokes. Together, they built a life rooted in deep devotion, mutual respect, and unwavering partnership.

A proud and caring father, Willie’s greatest pride and joy were his children: Cameron Stokes (Tiffany Stokes), Tiffany Ewing (Leroy “TJ” Ewing Jr.), Kierra Stokes, and Tiera “Nikki” Stokes and honorary son, Raymond Robinson (Jessmarie Robinson)

He poured his heart into guiding, supporting, and loving them unconditionally. His heart only grew larger as his family expanded, and he was affectionately known as “Papa” to countless grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense light and joy to his life. Over the years, Willie and Sharon happily opened their home and hearts to many foster and adoptive children, surrounding each one with warmth, security, and love.

Family was the cornerstone of Willie’s world. He is lovingly remembered by his sister, Annette Stokes; his brother, William “Jr.” Stokes; his honorary brothers, Russell D. Miller and Eugene Williams; and his honorary sister, Marietta Crawford.

Known as "Uncle Willie" to a host of nieces, nephews, and many others throughout the years, he possessed a rare gift for making everyone feel like family.

Willie was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Stokes; his brothers, Joe Bernard Stokes, William “Sweet Pea” Stokes, Ralph Stokes; his sister, Annie Gail Barkley and paternal grandmother, Thelma Jordan, father and mother-in-law, Robert B. Robinson and Mercedes Roberts-Robinson.

Willie’s warmth, generosity, and welcoming spirit touched the lives of everyone he met. He leaves behind a multitude of cherished memories and a community of friends and loved ones whose lives are forever brighter for having known him.

May he rest in eternal peace.
