Wallace "Rod" W. Deckard Jr., 78, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at Mennonite Friendship Communities, South Hutchinson, KS.   He was born September 12, 1944 in Nebraska City, NE, to Wallace W. Deckard and Alma V. (Massey) Reynolds.

Rod graduated from Mt. Hope High School in Mt. Hope, KS and was a warehouse forklift operator.  On February 23, 1991, Rod married Joyce Burton in Kansas City, KS.  Rod enjoyed spending his free time fishing and hunting.

Rod is survived by his wife, Joyce; three sons, Larry Deckard and wife, Linda, Chris Burton and Jeff Burton; two daughters, Suzy Royer and husband, Mark, and Sandy Harper; three sisters, Debbie Reynolds, Darlis McGee and Mary Steinwachs and husband Paul; one brother, David Deckard and wife, Corlett; 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son and a granddaughter.

Per Rod's wishes, cremation has taken place.  A private family visitation will be held and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Hutchinson Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
