Obituary

Tanesha Lashawn Terwey transitioned to heaven on May 06, 2025 at the young age of 36, in Hutchinson KS, surrounded by her loved ones. She was a woman of fierce loyalty and a love for her family that never wavered.

Tanesha didn't pretend to have life figured out—and she didn't have to. She faced deep pain, grief, and though life often felt heavy, she still found ways to show up for the people she loved. Her love was real, raw, and never quiet. She didn't hold her tongue, and she didn't hide her feelings—but if she loved you, you knew it. You felt it in the way she stood by you, laughed with you, and gave of herself even when she was struggling.

She may not have always seen life as something to celebrate, but she celebrated people—and that made all the difference.

Tanesha was loud in all the best ways. Her laugh could fill a room. Her honesty made you think—and her presence made you feel like you belonged. Even in her hardest moments, she fought to be present, and in her final days, she still found the strength to dance one more time. That was her way—quietly strong, fun, feisty, deeply loving, unapologetically real.

She was the life of the party—tiny but mighty—and we'll always remember her that way.

Tanesha is survived by: Her grandfather (Dad), Dennis Terwey; aunt, Gwendolyn Terwey; sisters, DaShawn Battiste and Imari Williams; and brothers, Darrin Battiste and Deante Battiste. She also held a deep sibling bond with cousins Christopher Wilson, Ashley Mcafee, and Briannah Terwey.

She is also survived by siblings Brittany Curtis, DeMetric Wickliffe, and Isaiah Green.

She is preceded in death by: Her daughter Aalysia Terwey, her mother Shawn Terwey, and her grandmother Diane Terwey.

A special thank-you to her "Memaw," Martha, and "Paw Paw", Charles, who brought Tanesha peace, comfort, and unconditional love. Also, to her best friend and sister, Jaleesa, who always stood by her side with unwavering loyalty and care.

Tanesha's journey is a reminder that many walk with invisible weight. She gave what she could—and that was more than enough.

Her memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 15 at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E 30th Ave, Hutchinson, KS, 67502 at 1:00 PM. A celebration of life follows at Carey Park at 3:00 PM.
