Sybil M. Ridge, 89, of Hutchinson, died on April 6, 2018, at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. She was born on November 10, 1928, in Ellis, Kansas to John and Grace (Cole) Carey.


Sybil graduated from Sids Hairdresser College and Cranfords Business College. She owned her own beauty salon for over 27 years. Sybil has been a resident of the Hutchinson community for over 50 years.

Other memberships she held were with the American Legion Auxiliary, Carey Park Women's Golf Association and Crossroads Christian Church all of Hutchinson. In 1946 she married Creed Latimer in Centralia, MO. They had three children, Larry Latimer, Montgomery, TX, Jim Latimer, Hutchinson and Mike Latimer.

On April 10, 1970, she married Edward Maynard Ridge in Miami, OK. Preceding her in death were: her parents; son, Mike Latimer, seven brothers, one sister.

Survivors include her: husband, Edward Maynard, Hutchinson; two sons, Larry (Debbie), Montgomery, TX and Jim (Barbara) Latimer, Hutchinson; step-son Steve (Cheri) Ridge, San Obispo, CA; and step-daughter, Dayna (Scott) Jackson, Maricopa, AZ ; sister, Myrleen Barnes, Tulsa, OK; eight grandchildren, Michael Latimer, Chrysta Cacicio, Michael Joe Latimer, Lindy Sparr, Misty Hinds, Stephanie Graf, Shadoe Brotton, Michael Gatschet, Caleb Ridge, Cody Ridge, Melanie Kunz; 18 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 12, 2018, at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. with the family greeting from 2 to 4 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 13, 2018, at 2 p.m. at the Crossroads Christian Church.

Pastor Wayne Pittman will be presiding. Burial will be at the Fairlawn Cemetery in Hutchinson, Kansas.
