Steven Paul Maxwell, 59, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 25, 2023 at Hospice House, Hutchinson, KS.  He was born April 4, 1964, in Oklahoma City, OK to Louis D. and Alice M. (James) Maxwell.

On December 5, 2013, Steve married Linda McCoy Womack in Las Vegas, NV.  Steven joined the United States Army on August 14, 1983. He proudly served his country in the Gulf War and, after 10 years, was honorably discharged on June 9, 1992.  Steven was a truck driver and local business owner.  He was an avid fisherman and was a craftsman.  There was no limit to what he could do with his hands.  He enjoyed spending his time with family and friends.  Steve took special pride in his grandchildren and every moment was a teaching moment.

Steve is preceded by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; children, Paul (Brittney) Maxwell, Lindsay (Nick) Hemphill and Shayne Shields; grandchildren, Cheyenne, Avery and Aubrey Maxwell, Colton and Kaden Kinzel, Layne and Tate Shields; step-mother, Carol Maxwell; brother, Butch Maxwell; and sister, Cheri Ogg.  While his time on earth was shortened, his legacy will live on through all of the individuals that crossed his path.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 P.M. on August 31, 2023 at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave., Hutchinson, KS.  Military honors will be conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard.  A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.  Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Reno County or Kansas Honor Flight , and can be sent in care of Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E 30th Ave, Hutchinson, KS 67502.
