Stephen P. Thomas, 73, died on January 30, 2021 at Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center in Wichita, KS. He was born August 3, 1947 in Great Bend, KS., the son of Neil and Rita (Malone) Thomas.

Stephen graduated from Sterling High School in 1965 and attended technical college in Colorado. On January 9, 1967 Stephen enlisted in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged on October 24, 1968. On May 1, 1987 he married Carol Thompson in Hutchinson. Stephen owned and operated Salt City Shuttle. He enjoyed coin collecting. His family said he could spend hours looking through coins.

Stephen was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marie Harville.

Survivors include his wife, Carol, a son, Michael (Angela) Stout; a grandson, Devin Stout; brothers, John Thomas and Terry (Debbie) Thomas and several nieces and nephews.

Rosary will be 9:30 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at St. Teresa's Catholic Church, 211 E. 5th, Hutchinson, KS with Father Mike Maybrier officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson, KS. Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, February 8, 2021 at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel. Memorial may be made to Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center and can be sent in care of Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave., Hutchinson, KS 67502.
