On October 16, 2024, Rosalie Abney was called to Heaven. Rose was a long time resident of Tribune. Her parents came to Greeley County to farm north of town. Rose was a single mother of four boys. She worked for the Kansas Dept. of Transportation, eventually becoming one of the first female supervisors in the state, until her retirement. She volunteered at the thrift store to pass her time away, then moving away to be closer to some of her grandchildren.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Joe & Rosie Nemechek, a brother, Larry Nemechek and a granddaughter, Stephanie Holmes. Living siblings are, Frank Nemechek and Donnie Nemechek. Children of Rose are Joe & Sheila Holmes, Tim & Jan Holmes, Don & Anecia Holmes and Jeff & Stephanie Holmes. Rose had 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held in the spring of 2025. Thank you for all the prayers and blessings she received. Tribune was her home.
