Hutchinson – Ronald D. "Dean" Lightner, 80, passed away Friday, February 11, 2022, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson, KS.

He was born January 26, 1942, in Nevada, MO, the son of Sheldon and Alice (Whithorn) Lightner. On October 12, 1974, he married Vickie Black in Hutchinson. Dean served in the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged. He worked for KP&L and retired early in 1996. Dean was an avid bowler. He also loved fishing and enjoyed going to the casino with Vickie. He also loved spending time with his kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ted Lightner and a brother, Lloyd Lightner.

Dean is survived by his loving wife, Vickie Lightner; two sons, Michael D. Lightner and Matthew D. Lightner; one sister, Laura Schuff; five grandchildren, Chris Lightner, Baylee DeWitt, Kincaid Lightner, Killian Lightner; and Grace Lightner; three great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at Fairlawn Burial Park, 2401 Carey Blvd., Hutchinson, KS. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with family present to greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave., Hutchinson, KS. Memorials may be given to the Cancer Council of Reno County and can be sent in care of the funeral chapel.
