Richard D. Engle, 65, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, KS.  Richard was born on August 29, 1958, in Hutchinson, KS, the son of Mike and Patricia (Slack) Engle.

Richard worked for over 20 years at Tyson Manufacturing in Hutchinson.  He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed listening to music, and outdoor grilling.  Richard was a collector of all things, especially antiques.  He was a big fan of the Washington Redskins and WSU Shockers.

In 1976, Richard married Jerri Ann Allen.  They later divorced.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Amanda Engle; brother, Michael Engle; and one nephew.

Richard is survived by his companion of 17 years, Marlene Vigil; daughter, Sarah (Bryan) Thompson; sister, Sharon (Stella) Engle; brother, Kenneth (Jennifer) Engle; grandchildren, Kira, Lea, Corbin, Ellianna, Grayson, and Kevin Thompson; one niece; four nephews; and his beloved dog Daisy.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 21, 2024, at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5905 W. 4th Ave, Hutchinson, KS, with Pastor Montie McFerrin officiating.  A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with family present to greet friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 300 E. 30th Ave., Hutchinson, KS  67502.  Memorials may be given to the Hutchinson Animal Shelter and can be sent in care of the funeral chapel.
