Patricia D. Owens, 83, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2019 at Wesley Towers, Hutchinson, KS. Patricia was born January 1, 1936 in Kansas City, KS, the daughter of Jack Marley and Dorothy Helen (Herman) Cumbee and attended Rosedale High School. She married Milton Wait, had two children, and later divorced. On March 28, 1968 she married Robert Owens in Hutchinson, KS. She met Bob Owens when she came to work at Owens Illinois,he was her foreman, and they worked together there for five years. They married in Hutchinson and started a business. Over the next 35 years, they owned six businesses, partnered with three others and Patricia managed several of them. She also worked for Dillons Bakery and Hutchinson Hospital. After retiring, she enjoyed travellingandloved visiting her sister Shirley in Kansas City and relaxing at Lake Kahola. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Robert Wait who was a disabled veteran. Patricia is survived by her husband Robert of Hutchinson; daughter, Pamela Wait of Hutchinson; sister, Shirley Schmidt of Leawood; brother-in-law, Carl Owens of Hutchinson; three grandchildren, Kristin Reyes, Amanda Craigg, Samuel Palmatier; four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A private graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 8, 2019 at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5905 West 4th Ave, Hutchinson, KS, with Pastor Victor Halfmoon officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with family present to greet friends from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave., Hutchinson, KS. Memorials may be given to Shriners Hospital for Children or Hutchinson Humane Society and can be sent in care of the funeral chapel.
