Nicholas Eugene "Nick" Wittry, 80, died peacefully at his home in Humble, Texas, on August 28, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Nick was born July 2, 1946, in Hutchinson, Kansas, to Nick and Betty (Barnhart) Wittry, and grew up there alongside his siblings Grace, Linda, Ronny, and Debbie. He enlisted in the U.S. Naval Reserve in April 1964, while still in high school, and served as a Hospital Corpsman until 1967.

He married Linda Parrish on January 29, 1966. They were together for sixty years.

Nick spent his career with Champlin Petroleum and later CITGO, beginning in 1968 loading trucks on the pipeline and retiring in 2002 as Corporate Manager of Employee and Organizational Development in Tulsa. He was a proud union man, serving OCAW Local 5-220 as Bargaining Committee Chairman and Local President. He liked a cold Coke with peanuts, cinnamon toothpicks, and a well-told story.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by his siblings Grace, Linda, and Ronny.

He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Linda Wittry, of Humble; his daughter Stephanie Lloyd and her husband Bill, of Edmond, Oklahoma; his son Eric Wittry and his wife Stacey, of Lubbock; his grandchildren Ernest Lloyd V, Tristan Wittry, Richard Wittry, Nicholas Wittry, and Sarah Madeleine Mincey; and his sister Debbie.

We're bringing him home to Hutchinson for a celebration of his life, and we'd love for you to be there.
