Myrna Bernard, 85, passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2023, at Hospice House, in Hutchinson, KS. She was born January 10, 1938 in Paola, KS, the daughter of Fred and Emma (Dillard) Wilhoite.

Myrna graduated from Paola High School and received her degree in nursing from Ft. Scott Mercy School of Nursing. She worked for St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Hutchinson and as a home health nurse. On July 31, 1960, Myrna married Donald Lee Bernard in Paola. They raised their family in Hutchinson. She was a Mom of many hats. She was the neighborhood Mom and was involved in all of her daughter's extracurricular activities such as drill team, girl scouts, tennis and dance. She was very kind, loving and a true nurturer and loved by all. She attended Second Missionary Baptist Church, Hutchinson.

Myrna is survived by her two daughters, Dawn (William Howard) Clark and Lori Bernard-Wilprit; two sisters, Mamie Anderson and Roberta Young; four grandchildren, Amaris (Dee) Traylor, Richard Quentin-Lee Wilprit, William Andrew Clark and Halee (William) Wright; and four great grandchildren, Isaiah, Mylah, ZaNia and Heiryn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; six brothers, Fred Lee Jr., Robert, Jessie, Ernest, Delco and Noble Dean Wilhoite; two sisters, Martha Towns and Venice Greenwood.

A funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 10, 2023 at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave., Hutchinson, with Rev. William Green Sr. officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with family to greet friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Thursday, March 9, 2023, at the funeral chapel. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may sign her book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel.
