Michael A. Henderson, 69, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2023, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson, of a sudden illness.   He was born April 4, 1953 in Hutchinson, KS, the son of Louis H. and Louise (Danford) Henderson.

Michael graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1971 and took a year of schooling at Hutchinson Community College.  Michael worked several jobs in California.  He retired after 28 years from Underground Vaults and Storage as a records management clerk and he also worked on the mine rescue team. Michael loved to metal detect and go catfishing.

On January 2, 1998, Michael married Ranea Risley at First United Methodist Church, Hutchinson.  She survives.

Other survivors include his brothers, Lou Henderson Jr. of Huntington Beach, CA, Tim (Beth) Henderson of South Hutchinson, KS; sister, Patricia Miller of Hutchinson, KS, stepsons, Ryan Corkins of Lawrence, KS, Brett (Celia) Corkins of Kansas City, MO; step-granddaughter, Natalia Corkins; brothers-in-law, Terry (Sandy) Risley of Viera, FL, and Jeff (Monica) Risley of Springhill, FL; sister-in-law, Cheryl (John) Laughary of Wichita, KS; several nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and parents-in-law, Buren and Edith Risley.

Per Michael's wishes, cremation has taken place.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.  Memorial contributions are suggested to Reno County Food Bank, Hutchinson Animal Shelter or New Spring Church and can be sent in care of Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave. Hutchinson, KS 67502.
