Dec 16, 1923 — Jan 1, 2022
Margaret M. Erhard "Peg", 98, died peacefully in her sleep on the morning of January 1, 2022 at her daughter's home in San Rafael, CA. She was born December 16, 1923 in Rolla, KS to the late James Harper Dickenson and Alice Rogers Dickenson.
Margaret graduated from Plevna High School in 1942 and St. Elizabeth Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1945. She spent a life of service in public health, private duty, and pediatric nursing for 47 years. She loved the pediatric years the best. After she retired from nursing, she continued to work at The Hutchinson Clinic.
She married Thomas A. Erhard "Tom" on February 10, 1950 in New Mexico and celebrated 65 years of marriage together.
A talented and gifted quilter, Peg won many blue ribbons at the Kansas State Fair, including Best In Show in 2007. Her specialty was hand appliqué, and she had the most amazing eye for color. She was a member of both the Hutchinson and Wichita Quilt Guilds. After moving to CA, she held appliqué lessons for members of a local quilt guild and they told her they were honored to be taught by a master.
She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church; Beta Sigma Phi Sorority; and she enjoyed gardening, traveling and making her Butter Almond Crunch for family and friends. She was immensely proud of her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include daughter, Edie Biddle (Tim) of San Rafael, CA; son, Michael Erhard (Kathy) of Hutchinson, KS; two grandsons, Josh and Justin Biddle; two step grandsons, Jason and Josh Henderson; eight step great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas A. Erhard; brothers, James D. Dickenson and Charles Dickenson; and niece, Marty Hartford.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Hutchinson, on Monday, January 10, 2022 at 10 AM. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, January 9, 2022 from 3 - 5 pm at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel.
