Loran E. Wood, 76, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at Hospice House, Hutchinson, KS.  He was born February 5, 1947, in California, MO, the son of James Oran and Flossie (Lohfik) Wood.

Loran graduated from Sublette High School in 1966.   He received his associate's degree and worked as an electrician journeyman.  He also worked for a Co-op for over 22 years as a grain elevator operator.   On August 8, 1970, Loran married Phyllis Gums in Harrisonburg, VA.    Loran enjoyed motorcycle riding, woodwork and spending time with his granddaughter, Dixie. He was a member of Park Place Christian Church, Hutchinson, former member of the American Legion, Patriot Guard and Prairie Thunder H.O.G. Chapter for 18 years.

Loran is preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Phyllis.

He is survived by his daughter, Sherrona Reed; adopted daughter, Sally (Michael) Chancellor; four brothers, James (Cathy) Wood, Richard (Donna) Wood, Dale (Helen) Wood and Bruce Wood; sister-in-law, Paula Wood; a granddaughter, Dixie Reed; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Per Loran's wishes, cremation has taken place.  A celebration of life will be 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Park Place Christian Church, 2600 N. Adams, Hutchinson, KS, with Rev. Dr. Kim Biery officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Prairie Thunder H.O.G. Chapter and can be sent in care of Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave, Hutchinson, KS 67502.
