Obituary

Lester C. Keller, 98, died on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Thorne Rehabilitation, Wesley Towers in Hutchinson, KS. He was born on December 12, 1919, Orrville, Ohio, the son of Charles and Lola Keller. Lester received his Bachelors of Science in Physical Education from University of Iowa. He was an Assistant Director of Recreation in Cedar Rapid, Iowa and later went on to be the Recreation Director for Hutchinson Recreation Commissions for 32 years and retired in 1988. Lester enlisted in the Air Force in 1942 and served in WWII where he was a Captain and flew B-29 Bombers until he was honorably discharged in 1957. In 1955, Lester married Doxie Hoover in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Lester is survived by wife of 62 years, Doxie; children, Kathy (Russell) Carey, Hutchinson, and Bruce Keller, Jackson, WY. He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Gary Keller and Ross Keller; twin daughters, Sally Jo and Shelley Jo Keller. A Memorial Service will be held on June 27, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Sherman, Hutchinson, KS, with Reverend Mark H. Miller presiding. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church or Hospice of Reno County, in care of the funeral home at 300 E. 30th Ave., Hutchinson, KS 67502.
