Joyce Eileen Modlin, 81, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, KS.

Joyce was born on November 30, 1942, in Belleville, KS, the daughter of Edward T. and Lola H. (Brumbaugh) Houdek. On February 17, 1961, she married Fred Modlin in Scandia, KS. To this union they were blessed with two boys, Terry and Bradley.

Joyce graduated from Belleville High School in 1960.  She worked for Blackwood Chiropractic Clinic for 33 years as a secretary and bookkeeper. She enjoyed spending her free time quilting.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred Modlin; siblings, Dwight Houdek and Karen E. Houdek; and daughter-in-law, Judy Modlin.

Joyce is survived by her sons, Terry (June) Modlin and Bradley Modlin; four grandchildren, Janae Beahan, Garrett

Modlin, Alissa (Brandon) O'Neill and Rheanna (John) Lazzaro; three great grandchildren, Emery Beahan, Connor and Cali O'Neill and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery, Scandia, KS. Hutchinson Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
