John Edward Sharp, 93, died on January 14, 2019 at Hospice House, Hutchinson, KS. He was born on May 13, 1925 in Wichita, KS, the son of Harold and Archie (West) Sharp. John graduated from Ark City High School in 1943. On August 27, 1943 John enlisted in the United States Navy as a corpsman for the USMC during the Pacific campaign. He was honorably discharged on March 18, 1946. John worked as head of maintenance for St. Joseph Hospital in Wichita, KS and retired after 15 years. On April 4, 2004 he married Jean (Gillette) Sharp in Wichita, KS. John was an avid fisherman and loved wood carving. Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister Patsy. Survivors include his two children, Chris Sharp and Teresa Sharp; two step-sons, Mark Mains and Kent Mains; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. There will not be a public visitation as cremation was chosen.A memorial services will be held Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Mennonite Friendship Community, 600 West Blanchard, South Hutchinson, KS.Memorial Contributions may be made to the Hutchinson Humane Society in care of Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave., Hutchinson, KS 67502
