John E. Groening, 55, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2023, at his home in Hutchinson, KS.   John was born December 10, 1967 in Hutchinson KS, the son of Merlin H. and Dora H. (Epp) Groening.

John graduated from Hutchinson High School.  He enjoyed latch hook, adult coloring, playing video games and watching T.V. and movies.  John worked for McDonalds as a dishwasher for over 20 years.  He was a member of First Southern Baptist Church, Hutchinson.

John is survived by his brother, Barton (Ann) Groening; sisters, Deborah (Rob) Hoefer and Julie (Jerry) Mitchell; several nieces and nephews; and friends and staff at Disability Supports of the Great Plains and TECH.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one niece.

A funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 7, 2023 at First Southern Baptist Church, 1201 E. 23rd Ave., Hutchinson, with Pastor Roy Jaye officiating.  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 6, 2023, at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30 ^th Ave, Hutchinson.  Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery, Hutchinson.  Memorial Contributions are suggested to First Southern Baptist Church and can be sent in care of the funeral home.
