Joan R. Emmerich, 91, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community, Buhler, KS.

Joan was born on March 9, 1931, in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Charles and Evelyn (Wolk) Appleby. On June 21, 1952, she married Joseph E. Emmerich in St. Louis, MO, to this union they were blessed with six children, Kim, Kip, Kandy, Kevin, Kris and Keith. Joan was an avid singer and dog lover.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph; son-in-law, Ron Dobson; and a great grandson, Mason McIntire.

Joan is survived by her six children, Kim Dobson, Kip (Martha Courville) Emmerich, Kandy (Murry) York, Kevin (Brenda) Emmerich, Kris Emmerich, and Keith (Shelly) Emmerich; 16 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave., Hutchinson, KS, with Pastor Luke Helmuth officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at the funeral chapel. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Hutchinson Animal Shelter or Traditions Home Health and Hospice and can be sent in care of the funeral chapel.
