Janet Christy Heckathorn, 70, passed away on November 23, 2024, at Ascension Via Christi-St. Francis in Wichita, KS. Janet was born April 21, 1954, in Waco, TX, the daughter of Phyllis Jean Harris.  Janet grew up in California and moved to Kansas in the early 80's to be near her mom.

Janet enjoyed watching the KC Chiefs and the San Francisco 49er's.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren and loved to joke with people.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Louie Slater; and sisters, Donna Slater and Lynda Bernhard.

Janet is survived by her husband, Clyde Heckathorn; children, Angela Edington, Jenise Delphin, Jesse Aaron Basurto, Kimberly Hageman, Clayton Heckathorn and Sylvia Myrtle; sister, Doloris Place; brothers, Lloyd Kastner and Ron Slater; 21 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 6, 2024, at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave., Hutchinson, KS.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to service time on Friday, December 6, 2024, at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel. The burial will take place in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Pretty Prairie, KS.  Memorials may be given made out to Vincent Rivera to help pay for funeral expenses and sent in care of the funeral chapel.
