Hutchinson – Irene L. Smith, 91, died April 2, 2022 Legend Senior Living, Hutchinson. She was born December 7, 1930 in Nickerson, KS, the daughter of Frank J. and Gladys E. (Goble) Corwin.

Irene attended Nickerson High School. She married Kenneth Smith Sr. on June 29, 1950 in Hutchinson. Irene was a homemaker and attended Westside Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth; a grandson, Jermiah J. Smith; son-in-law, Scott Cunningham; three brothers; one sister; three sisters-in-law; and three brothers-in-law.

Survivors include her two sons, Kenneth Jr. and wife Charlotte, Hutchinson, David and wife Cheryl, Moundridge, daughter Sherry Cunningham, Wilson; one sister, Carol Matthias, Hutchinson; five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be 11:30 a.m., Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5905 W. 4th Ave. Hutchinson, KS, with Pastor Eldon Smith officiating.Memorials may be given to American Cancer Society and can be sent in care of Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave. Hutchinson, KS 67502.
