Ginger Michelle (Kirkland) McClanahan, passed away on August 27, 2026, in Hutchinson, Kansas, at the age of 52.

Born on May 24, 1974, in Hutchinson, Kansas, Ginger spent her life rooted in the community she called home. She was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, and friend whose life was marked by care for others, both in her family and throughout her long career in nursing homes. Traditional words can only begin to measure a life like Ginger’s, because so much of who she was, was found in the steady, daily work of showing up for people who needed her most. 

Ginger dedicated more than half her life to caring for others as a CNA and CMA. For the last ten years of her life, she cared for the residents of Hutchinson Health and Rehab, following another twenty years of work in other nursing homes. Her passion was always taking care of those who were unable to take care of themselves. That commitment defined much of her adult life and formed a lasting part of her legacy. She loved helping people, especially her residents at Hutchinson Health and Rehab, where she gave so much of her time and energy. She was known for her bold advocacy for those who could not advocate for themselves, and for the fierce loyalty she showed to the people she loved. 

Beyond her work, Ginger found joy in the people closest to her. She loved spending time crafting with her grandchildren, sharing simple moments that became treasured memories. She also enjoyed fishing and cheering for the Minnesota Vikings. She had an adventurous spirit and was always willing to help a friend in need without judgment. Those who knew her will remember her strength, her compassion, and the care she extended so freely to others. 

Ginger is survived by her four children, Tyler McClanahan, Brianna McClanahan, Holly Parker, and Gabrielle Kirkland; her mother, Toni VanWey; her sisters, Jennifer Hoffman, wife of Nick Hoffman, and Summer Ahrens, wife of Jon Ahrens; her brother, Matthew Heneha; her grandchildren, Sonny, Miguel, Isabelle, Manny, and Sammy; her uncle, Steve Lyman; seven nieces and nephews; and several cousins. 

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Arthur and Joyce Lyman and Jim and Ann Kirkland; her uncle, Bruce Lyman; her aunt, Vickie Corcoran; and her cousin, Jeremiah Lyman and father Jerry Dale Kirkland. 

Ginger was described by those who loved her as compassionate and loving, and her life reflected those qualities in countless ways. She fought many battles in her life, and her family finds comfort in knowing that she is resting in the arms of Jesus and will never know pain again. Her strength and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. 

“Come to me all who are weary and heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28. 

“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Revelation 21:4. 

A Visitation will be held on September 10, 2026, from 04:00 PM to 07:00 PM at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 300 E 30t Ave, Hutchinson, KS. A Graveside Service will be held on September 11, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Memorial Park Cemetery 5905 W 4th, Hutchinson, KS.
