Eugene "Beans" R. Smith, 89, passed away Sunday, December 12, 2021, at Reflection Living, Hutchinson, KS.

Eugene was born September 9, 1932, in Alden, KS, the son of Jake and Martha (Simpson) Smith.He graduated from Nickerson High School in 1950 and went on to receive his Journeyman's License. On January 20, 1951, Eugene married Helen Keffer in McPherson. Eugene worked for IBEW 661 as an electrician and retired in 1995 after 50 years. He enjoyed tinkering outdoors when he wasn't working. He attended New Life Nazarene Church in Hutchinson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Floyd Smith; great grandson, Asher Smith, and five siblings.

Eugene is survived by his wife, Helen; daughters, Janice Davis of Fairbanks, AK and Terry (Mike) Luman of Nickerson; six, grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place. Service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to American Stroke Association and can be sent in care of Hutchinson Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 300 E. 30th Ave. Hutchinson, KS. 67502.
