Ellen Ora Lyon, 81, died on September 20th, 2018 at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 14, 1937 the daughter of Floyd N. and Ora E. (Gisick) Cooley in Bazine, Kansas. She resided in Ness city for 15 years, graduating from Ness City High School. Ellen then went on to attend Fort Hays State University and lived in the Hays community for three and half years. On January 27, 1957, she married Dean A. Lyon in Ness City. Then in 1960, Ellen and Dean relocated to Hutchinson. She worked for many years as a seamstress and was the co-owner of Lyon Upholstery. Ellen entered retirement in 2005. Ellen was a member and past-president of the Double Trouble Mothers of Twins Club, now known as the Hutchinson Area Mothers of Multiples; a lifetime member of the Kansas Organization of Mothers of Twins Club and a member of the National Organization of Mothers of Twins Club. Preceding her in death are her parents, spouse and three sisters, Doris A. Bauer, Marlyn P. Cooley and Harriet E. Clarke. Survivors include her four children, Michael Ray and wife Rachel, Hutchinson, daughter, Deann Ellen Lyon, Dodge City, KS, daughter Diane Lynn Lyon, Emporia, KS and son, James Dean Lyon, Louisville, KY; three grandsons, Joseph and wife Britni, Olathe, KS, Brandon and Justin Lyon, La Grange, KY; granddaughter, Angela Lyon and husband Nick Snyder, Wichita; five great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. A Book Signing will be held on Monday, September 24th and Tuesday, September 25th from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, September 26th, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 300 E. 30th Ave, Hutchinson. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or Reno County Hospice, in care of the funeral home.
