Edith N. Compton, 91, died on February 7, 2018 at the Hutchinson Hospice House. She was born on August 18, 1926, the daughter of Gustav and Dorothy (Peterman) Schneider.
Edith attended grade school in Ellsworth and resided in the Sabetha community for 29 years. She relocated to Hutchinson in 1976.
On June 1, 1947 she married Adrian Mellenbruch in Ellsworth. She later married Ora Compton Jr. in Kingman, KS on July 1, 1977.
Proceeding her in death are her parents and spouses; son, David Mellenbruch and sister Betty Pruitt.
Survivors include three sons, Michael Mellenbruch, Hiawatha, Kenneth Mellenbruch, Paradise, TX and Lowell Mellenbruch, Hutchinson; a daughter, Ramona Gilmore, Salina; two sisters, Evelyn Pflughoeft, Erna Haase both of Ellsworth.
A book signing will be held on Monday, February, 12th, from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel & Crematory.
A Memorial Service will be held at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, February, 13th 2018 at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Wayne Pittman will be presiding.
Private family burial will be at Fairlawn Cemetery, Hutchinson.
