E. Mae (Stiggens) Boggs, age 94, South Hutchinson, passed away January 7, 2019 at the Hospice House. She was born on May 25, 1924 at Rural Route Plevna, Kansas the daughter of Thomas J.and Ella Mae (Mahoney) Stiggins.
Mae was a graduate of Hutchinson High School class of 1942.
On September 18, 1945 she married Lee H. Boggs in Hutchinson. He passed away on June 27, 2002. Survivors include two sons; Dennis L. (Jennalee) Boggs of Hutchinson and Dr. Daryl W. (Helen) Boggs of Fort Collins, Colorado; grandson Derek L. (Lisa) Boggs of Olathe; great grandson Jacob Lee Boggs and great granddaughter Kathryn Mae Boggs, Olathe, and special friends Carol and Bud Montford, Blackwell, OK. Preceding her in death are her parents, brothers, T. James and Charles W. Stiggins, sisters Violet Voogd, Helen Stiggins and Mary Board.
Mae was retired Medical Assistant for Dr. V.R. Moorman and a 30 year volunteer at the Reno County Museum. She was a member of the South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, Special Monday Quilt Group, Heart of Kansas Quilt Guild, Reno County Historical Society, the Wednesday Hospice Breakfast Group and the Tuesday morning coffee group at the Dutch Kitchen. Mae was also the secretary for Reno County during the Sabin Polio Campaign, setting up sites and volunteers for all the towns in Reno County. The campaign was "STOP POLIO." Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 10th, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting guests from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 300 E. 30th Ave., Hutchinson, KS. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 11th, at 10:00 a.m. at the South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, 206 E. Ave. E., South Hutchinson. Pastor Claire Gadberry will be presiding. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Memorial Contributions may be made to the South Hutchinson United Methodist Church or Hospice of Reno County or to the Reno County Museum in care of the funeral chapel at 300 E. 30th Ave, Hutchinson, KS 67502.
