Douglas D. Schissler, 82, passed away April 14, 2022 at Good Samaritan Society- Hutchinson Village. He was born May 28, 1939 in Hillsboro KS, the son of Rudolph and Augusta (Rhodes) Schissler.

Doug graduated from Hutchinson High School and was in the Army National Guard where he received his engineering degree. In 1988, he met Mary Chinn where they both worked in security for Krause Manufacturing. They spent 33 years together. He also worked for Grede Foundries and was a salesman for Rose Motor. Doug and Mary also owned Affordable Rentals in Hutchinson. He enjoyed collecting old cars.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Rudy; two daughters, Lisa Wolf and Toni Cox.

Survivors include his significant other, Mary Chinn; five children, Marcia McGan, Douglas Schissler Jr., John Schissler, Darrin (Casie) Schissler, and Michelle Topliff; a brother, Dwight Schissler; nine grandchildren, Amanda Schissler, Danielle McGan, Nicholas, Zachary, Brooklyn and Landry Schissler, Hannah Pavelka, Fayeth Dahl and Kallie Patterson; and six great grandchildren.

Per Doug's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be Thursday, April 28, 2022 at 3 p.m. at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave. Hutchinson. Memorials are suggested to Reno County Veterans Memorial and can be sent in care of Hutchinson Funeral Chapel.
