Darrell Vernon Chambers was born 26 November 1926 in Hastings, Adams County, Nebraska.  He was the son of Morell Ellsworth Chambers and Nola Iona Edwards.  The family included 9 children: Forrest Morell Chambers, Donald Ellsworth Chambers, Darrell Vernon "Vernon" Chambers, Herbert Eugene "Gene" Chambers, Morell Ellsworth "Mix" Chambers, Kenneth Robert Chambers, Laurene Ann (Chambers) Vorhees, Mary Kathryn (Chambers) Lundstrom, and Carol Elizabeth (Chambers) Ratliff.  Darrell grew up most of his life in Kansas, attending K-State, earning a degree in Electrical Engineering, and becoming a strong Kansas State Wildcats fan!
Darrell met the love of his life, Willa Dean "Deanie" York when he was in the Navy and attended her church (South Side Church of the Nazarene in Memphis, TN).  When he first attended, she was a freshman in high school in Nashville at Trevecca Nazarene College, and they met when she went home for a visit.  The Sunday School Class had a wiener roast, and they met that evening.  They dated off and on for almost five years, then were married by Dr. S.T. Ludwig, who was the General Secretary of the Church of the Nazarene in Kansas City, and who was a boyhood friend of Vernon's father, during their childhood in Oklahoma, who also attended Bresee College under Rev. H.M. Chambers.  On 1 September 1949 Vernon & Deanie were married in Hutchinson, Reno County, KS.  This marriage produced the following offspring: Vernon Darrell (infant death), Darrell Vernon, Rebecca Lee , Paul Allen (infant death), David Alan, John Douglas, Mark Jeffrey, and Thomas LeRoy.
In 1960 Vernon & Deanie moved from New York to San Jose, California and raised their family there.  34 years later, after their kids were all grown and had moved out, in 1994 they bought a house on property located in Land Harbor, a golfing and vacation community near Newland, North Carolina.  This was their retirement home until very recently when their daughter and son-in-law moved to Mountain Home, Idaho.  Vernon & Deannie moved out to Mountain Home as well to be closer to the family.
Darrell was preceded in death by his father & mother, brothers Forrest, Donald, Herbert, Morell, and Kenneth; his sister Mary Kathryn; and his sons Vernon, Paul, & Darrell.  He is survived by his wife Deanie, his sisters Laurene Ann and Carol, his daughter Rebecca (Chambers) Sunderlin, his sons David, John, Mark, and Thomas, 12 grand-children: Crystal Chambers, Derek Chambers, Audra (Sunderlin) Blum, Kimberly Sunderlin, Jennifer (Sunderlin) Hush, Nicole (Chambers) Bensen, Victoria (Chambers) Kroll, Benjamin Chambers, Chelsea (Chambers) Hoffman, Alyssa (Chambers) Bartlett, Brittney (Chambers) Labelle, and Michaela (Chambers) Fair; and 15 great-grandchildren: Roman Brown, Adriel Chambers, Kieran Chambers, Ivy Bensen, Isla Bensen, Jack Bensen, Maxwell Kroll, Piper Kroll, William Kroll, Andrew Hoffman, Henry Hoffman, Aspen Bartlett, Hunter Bartlett, Theodore Labelle, and Jonathan Fair.
Darrell Vernon Chambers died at his new home in Mountain Home, Idaho on 28 July 2022.  An Inurnment will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5905 W. 4th Ave, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
