Claude L. Hutson, Sr., also known as "Pops or Tex", 86, passed away Monday, October 4, 2021, at his home in Nickerson, KS.

Claude was born May 23, 1935, in Stillwell, IL, the son of Neil and Helen (Guymon) Hutson. On December 23, 1979, he married Loretta Ann Briley in Wichita. Claude was self-employed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Jimmy and Carl Hutson, Sr., and two sisters, Libby Bird and Lorena Brown.

Claude is survived by his wife, Loretta; children, CL (Shondra) Hutson, Jr., Georgia (Jon) Merritt, Gene (Michelle) Hutson, Michelle (Mark) McCabe, Shelly (Adam) Reynolds, Shane Hale, Tina (Joe) Mandeville and Tex Lee Hutson; a brother, Verne Hutson; 21 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 1 – 7 p.m. with family greeting guests from 5 – 7 p.m. Thursday, October 7, 2021, at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave, Hutchinson. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 8, 2021, at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave, Hutchinson, with Pastor Jesse Pinkston officiating. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery. Memorial Contributions are suggested to Encompass Health Home and Hospice and can be sent in care of the funeral chapel.
