Carol J. Smith, 77, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023, at McPherson Health and Rehab, in McPherson, KS.   She was born February 18, 1945 in Hutchinson, KS, to Lorenzo D. and Willie A. (Carpenter) Foster.

Carol attended Junior High School in Hutchinson.  She was a cook at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.  On April 6, 1963, Carol married Eugene E. Smith in Hutchinson, KS.  She attended Eleventh Avenue Church, Hutchinson.

Carol is survived by her children, Sharon K. (John) Blevins and Russel M. (Lora) Smith both of Hutchinson; a sister, June Schleuning of Sterling; five grandchildren, April (John) Woody, Jennifer Stanford, Amanda Blevins, John (Kristi) Blevins Jr., and LeeAlan (Anya) Mock, and eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; ex-husband, Eugene Smith; a son, Jason Smith, and two sisters, Pearl Starks and Arminda Pruner.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 27, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E, 30 ^th Ave, Hutchinson, KS.  Visitation will be held 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 26, 2023 at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel.  Memorial Contributions are suggested to Breast Cancer Research Foundation and can be sent in care of the funeral home.
