Carmen Raya, 93, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2021 in Hutchinson, KS. Carmen was born March 28, 1927 in Ellinwood, KS, the daughter of Vincente and Ramona (Cancino) Ruiz. On April 13, 1964 she was united in marriage to Atilano Raya in Hutchinson, KS, they were blessed with two sons, Gilberto and Gabriel. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson. Carmen liked to dance, enjoyed going on vacations with her family and loved to dress in anything that was red. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Atilano, son Gabriel, one brother and three sisters. Carmen is survived by one son, Gilberto Raya of Wichita; a daughter-in-law, Angelita M. Raya of Hutchinson; a sister, Lydia Zamora of Mexico City, Mexico; a cousin, Rafaela McQueen; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 612 S. Maple Street, South Hutchinson, KS. A rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m., Friday, February 26, 2021 at the church. Burial will take place in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Memorials may be given to Our Lady of Guadalupe and can be sent in care of Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30thAve., Hutchinson, KS 67502.
