Billy Ray Ackley, 79, passed away on July 24, 2025, at his home in Hutchinson, Kansas. He was born on September 20, 1945, in Cherokee, OK to Clyde Emmett and Sarah Ann (Whitehead) Ackley.

Billy attended school in Cherokee, OK and Ulysses, KS.  On May 22, 1971, Billy married Helen Sharpe in Scott City, KS.  He worked for Hutchinson Regional Medical Center in the HVAC maintenance department.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and numerous loved ones.

Billy is survived by his wife, Helen; son, Bryan (Miranda) Ackley; daughter, Annell Ackley; sisters, Ruth Ann Kirby and Irma Elliott; grandson, Nathan Ackley and a granddaughter, Avalyn Ackley.  He also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Per Billy's wishes, cremation has taken place.  A celebration of life will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave, Hutchinson, KS.   Memorial contributions are suggested to Reno County Veterans Memorial or The Gary Sinise Foundation and can be sent in care of Hutchinson Funeral Chapel.
