Betty J. Zelfer, 94, passed away Friday, August 19, 2022, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, KS. Betty was born April 14, 1928, in Sterling, KS., the daughter of Dewey and Ardis (Brown) Viles. She graduated from Sterling High School. On June 4, 1962, Betty married Fritz Zelfer in Miami, OK. He died on June 8, 2004.
She is survived by her children, Sherry (Lawrence) Casey, Doug (Debbie) Wilson and Terry Knowles; eight grandchildren, Melinda Cusick, Kevin (Millie) Casey, Larry (Julie) Casey, Shanna Shawhan, Cassie Brown, Michael Wilson, J.W. (Katina) Knowles and Cory Knowles; 10 great grandchildren, Clinton Willhaus, Christen Dreiling, Kayli Casey, Sam Casey, Britton, Braylee, Briella, Hunter, William and Harold Knowles; and four great-great grandchildren, Larissa and Easton Dreiling and Hadley and Harper Willhaus.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fritz Zelfer; son-in-law, David Knowles; three brothers, Lloyd, Harold and Chet Viles. Funeral services will be held at ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 25, 2022, at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave., Hutchinson, KS. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Burial will take place in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson, KS. Memorials can be given to The Arbors at Waldronand can be sent in care of the funeral chapel.
