Bart William
Schlickau
Oct 26, 1971 — Oct 4, 2026
Haviland
Bart William Schlickau, of Hutchinson, KS, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2026, at the age of 54 after a short battle with cancer.
Bart was born on October 26, 1971, to Bill and Irene Schlickau. He graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1990. At the young age of 19, Bart was diagnosed with mental illness, a challenge he lived with throughout the remainder of his life. While his illness shaped some of his circumstances, it never defined the person he was. Bart was a kind, gentle, and caring man with a heart bigger than most.
Bart’s life was not measured by the things that are often listed in an obituary- careers, accomplishments, or a family of his own. Instead, it was measured by the goodness he showed others, the love he gave, and the kindness that always remained a part of him.
For many years, Bart lived at Haviland Care Center in Haviland, KS. His family is grateful for the care he received, the friends he made, and for the people who helped make his life a good experience.
Bart was preceded in death by his father, Bill Schlickau; and nephew, Logan Neufeld.
His is survived by his mother, Irene Schlickau; sisters, Peggy (Darcy) Neufeld of Hutchinson, KS, and Mary (RC) Watson of South Hutchinson, KS; and nieces and nephews, CJ, Madison, and Reece Watson, Payton, Haydnn, Landon and Ashlyn Neufeld.
A private family inurnment will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson, KS.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Haviland Care Center in memory of Bart, and can be sent in care of Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave. Hutchinson, KS 67502.
