Barbara Figueroa Garcia, 92, of Hutchinson, passed away on Friday, September 8, 2023, in Hutchinson, KS.

Barbara was born on March 4, 1931 in Hutchinson, the daughter of Severino and Rosa (Perez) Figueroa. She was a lifelong resident of Hutchinson. Barbara worked for Borton, Inc. in purchasing, bookkeeping and payroll, and later worked for Carey Salt in packaging. She was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in South Hutchinson. Barbara showered her grandchildren with immense love and care, and was like a second mother to them more than a grandmother. She was never one to lounge around; she always kept busy and was an excellent homemaker. Barbara enjoyed putting puzzles together, sewing and gardening. She also loved listening to music and was an excellent dancer.

Survivors include her children, Glenn (Glenna) Garcia, Leticia Garcia, Manuel (Robin) Garcia, Jr. and Estela Garcia; brother, Ignacio Figueroa; eight grandchildren, René (Ami) Alvidrez, Omar (Lauren) Alvidrez, Monica (Jon) Scibilia, Matthew (Marcy Mendoza) Garcia, Taylor (Austin) Comer, Curtis Garcia, Evan Lumbreras and Monet Lumbreras; and 12 great grandchildren, Alec Alvidrez, Adrian Garcia, Olivia Alvidrez, Emily Alvidrez, Lucia Garcia, Mateo Garcia, Amiah Garcia, Mayla Scibilia, Ryan Alvidrez, Gianni Scibilia, Mateo Comer and Miguel Comer.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; and four sisters, Juanita Figueroa, Mercedes Piña, Eva Reyes and Jovita Vasquez.

Rosary will be held at ­­­10:00 A.M. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 612 S. Maple, South Hutchinson, KS, with Father Eric Weldon officiating. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, Hutchinson, KS. A visitation will be held in private at Barbara's request.
