Barbara L. Busbey, 92, died on January 17, 2019 at the Hospice House in Hutchinson. She was born on January 16, 1927 the daughter of Claude and Alma (Sims) Hereford in Bloomington, IL.
Barbara grew up in Illinois, graduating from the Colfax High School.
She was known for her talent of singing and her love for music. Barbara was active in musicals, plays and the opera. When she started her family, she was able to stay home and her raise her daughters.
After her children graduated from high school, Barbara went to work as a secretary for the Mayflower Corporation in Indiana. She was active in her church in Indianapolis and also served as a Deacon. Barbara resided in the Indianapolis area for 32 years before relocating to Hutchinson, Kansas in 2001.
In Hutchinson, Barbara was a member of the Westside Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Harvester Sunday school class.
On November 18, 1951, she married Richard Busbey in Colfax, IL. He died on February 6, 1976.
Preceding her in death are her parents, her spouse, three brothers, one sister and grandson-in-law, David Gosnell.
Survivors include her twin daughters, Julie Christian of Hutchinson, Claudia and husband Jeffrey Sparagana of Reading, PA; one sister, Anita Stevens of Fischer, Indiana; three grandchildren, Amy Gosnell, Jeff Christian and Fiancé Caitlyn Jaskoski and Lindsay Sparagana and one great grandchild, Jordan Diggs.
Cremation has taken place.
To honor Barbara's request, there will be a private family inurnment held at a later date.Memorial contributions may be made to Westside Baptist Church or Reno County Hospice Care, and can be sent in care of Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave, Hutchinson, KS 67502.
