Amos "Sonny" W. Lightsey, 85, died October 28, 2018 at Hospice House in Hutchinson, KS. He was born August 2, 1933 in Hampton, South Carolina, the son of Eddie and Hampie (Corbin) Lightsey. He was a graduate of Varnville High School in South Carolina. Sonny enlisted into active duty with the United States Airforce and retired with over 20 years of service and honorably discharged on September 30, 1972 in Denver, CO. Sonny was an electronics technician for Sears and he currently delivered meals for Friendship Meals. On April 2, 1964 Sonny married Donna Cullison in South Hutchinson. Sonny loved country music and him and Donna were members and played in multiple country dance bands for over 30 years. Preceding him in death are his parents; siblings, Bobbie, Barbara, Wilson, Roscoe, and Rudolph; and one great granddaughter. Survivors include his wife, Donna; children, Debra (Ricky) Wall, Marlena (Mark) Thompson, Timothy Lightsey, Thomas (Christine) Lightsey; grandchildren, Cory Sherbon, Cassandra Miller, Carly Thompson, Allexis Cohen, Joshua LIghtsey, Jenna Lightsey, Kaydee Lightsey, Ryan Wall, Alyssa Wall, Lacey Wall, Lilly Lightsey and Mary Lightsey; and nine great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave. Hutchinson, KS. Memorial Contributions may be given to Hospice House or the Amos W. Lightsey Memorial Fund in care of the funeral chapel.
